Lets get ready to be crafty....

Alright folks, its time to play the crafty finished objects game. You know how we play. I show pictures and tell you about them and then you ooh and ahh....
First Up
Monkey sock #1 in Sundara Yarn. Still need to start #2

Second up my Tallis. I finished it right before Rosh Hashanah and want to redo the "friendship bracelets" as Kara calls them.
I fused the pieces on and did the dying and knots myself. Probably cost me about 30 to make. Usually they retail for $200 and up..I have to sew it apparently, the fusing isn't staying..... I really don't want to mess it up though, i'm not the best sew-er.

Third, Circular Needle Holder. Need to reline it with cool colored duct tape. Very fun to make and easy. I crochet the chain and used a button from Buby's collection for the clasp. I totally am making one for the wife... She just has to provide fabric and we are on the lookout for black duct tape.

Finally Hedera... Hedera made in Claudia's handpaints in Butterpecan. # 2 is on the needles already.Started on 9/8 finished 9/16 I didn't pull it on totally but the heel does fit nicely like my monkey socks. Also Super easy pattern.

I also have some cool needle holders not to be shown yet and a so called scarf I frogged... I also have some woolmeise that I forgot to photograph for Boo that I've knit and fantastic yarns i got in VT that have projects that need to get started.
I need to finish up these socks and get back to my winter knitting as well as start holiday knitting. I'm really enjoying hedera though and am trying so hard not to have too much on the needles... I'm failing miserably.
Happy Yom Kippur Yal....

They call it acting...

But I don't think they always get that... because well.. too often they start dating their love interests....
Jessie and Rorie for Gilmore girls, Now Jessie is with the Cheerleader which technically there is no love interest on the screen....
How about the couple that was on House and now are broken up...Or how about the bizillion other shows/movies where the people start dating. And whether they are single before that is up in the air....

I love it when a plan comes together

Last night we played McGyver meets the A Team...
Being Murdock I messed up and instead of cleverly solving the problem, I made it worse.
Kara dropped her mother's garnet ring in a vent on her floor. Instead of moving her desk she waited for me and my brilliance. Ha! I decided I could move the ring in the vent with my bbq skewer and have it fall out of the vent. I had two ways for it to go. The one I chose, yeah, it was wrong and it went into duct work.
So then we are trying to get into another duct which we discover someone had gone into before. Of course we couldn't maneuver removing the metal sheet completely so I'm there asking for tools while trying to jerry rig something up. Luckily I had just bought goggles so I protected my face from being sliced on metal. So I have this flimsy but still strong enough slot that i force my flash light in, finally see the ring with is of course at a 80 degree angle from where my hole was so it was hard to see.

We try a ruler. Too short. We try long tweezers, nope. I ask for chewing gum, a paper clip and a 1946 bottle of wine... okay well none of that was helpful but I still felt like MacGyver. Instead I ask for a measure tape. I figure cause I could extend it and fish it out... Kara offers me a sewing measuring tape. I love her to death but... yeah, my lasso skills aren't that hot, especially with a slot that is maybe a half inch high and a few inches long....So she gets me the construction measuring tape and I hook me a ring...Now we just need Papa Kara to fix our duct and we'll be back in business...
I love it when I plan comes together... What a way to remember her mom on her anniversary date... fish out rings from duct work....oh and eating pancakes...

oh lord won't you buy me a mercedes benz

family bonding....
my brother is trying to bond about how to get dad to a dr and what will we do with our aging parents.. Unless you beat my dad he won't go to a dr. Plain and simple. Seriously, he could have a heart attack and he will say its not so bad.... and as far as aging parents go... can't do much while we have grandparents that are being taken care of by our parents.
The parents don't think as quickly as us 20 something year olds which causes scary driving, getting lost and just general not getting "it". I wonder if i had a baby or two and had to deal with all that if i'd be a little more ditzy and such like the folks. I know the few folks I've known to have gone to grad school have lost a few common sense brain cells as well as some memory.... maybe its like that... We can only retain so many thoughts, kids, school, solving world hunger, it makes you forget other info and my mom at least, gets distracted by shiny objects and colors...

Note from G-d

Dear high holiday participants, or more accurately, synagogue attendees, its great that you managed to silence your cell phones for a few hours but do you have to text message all through services? And no, I'm not talking about the kids... you, moms and dads, i saw you....

Back in USSR

You don’t know how lucky you are…
I’m back in PA for a Jewish stint. Now I know I don’t shut up but please, make my mom stop. Its all that mushy crap (oh you’re so my kid) or health crap. Because what kids wants to hear they are just like their 53 but acts 93 year old mother. Okay maybe like 2 of your out there but the rest want to quickly get away from the crazy people who call themselves your parents. Plus all this talking time I’m sitting in car trying to a) not be hit by other cars as she weaves in and out of lanes at 2 miles an hour and b) not vomit. I don’t have much to say and she always wants to hear drama which I mainly share with the wife about boys and work. Sitting in the bed it looks like Sashimi the Beta has passed on. Out of all the crap she tells me I’d probably care more about a dead beta. Lights out for mindy. I’ve to get up at the buttcrack of dawn to pick up Buby which is a whole other road straight to hell post that I won’t go into.
Perks of this trip:
They finally have wireless, I just have to get the password
Friday afternoon free cause they are buying a car but I may have to watch buby which isn’t good
Saturday we have to pick up my dad’s Philadelphia distance run number which means driving into philly. Both my parents are shitty drivers that make me want to puke but it will be something different to do. Trips home are filled with praying for my life in the car and hoping not to get ill. No, they won't let me drive. My dad refuses.... its a stupid man power thing.. pure crap IMO.
New Tallis. I made it cause I'm a crafty Jew, I may tie it again but its cool. I have no pics of anything crafty and yet so much to share..

It shouldn't be noteworthy but it is

Boo just called. He was suposed to go with his aunt to get a cell phone yesterday. She cancelled so he went on his own today and got a new phone, paid his bills, ran to buy long johns for the winter and called and gave me his week's schedule.

pics are up

I'm back

Hey I'm back... Pics will follow. I was sick most of the time and I have to say I'm a bit crabby.....
I have this whole weird view of stuff going on. I don't think VT is good for Boo... I thought it would be but his aunt is very negative and angry and he's turning that way. He lives at her home not his carriage house. The hope was he'd still be independent and have the family support too. I want to say watch how often she says she 'can't' do something... which really is 'won't' and how much judgement she says on others. She's very happy with the way she is and maybe he'll be happy with it too but not for me. He spent years trying to make me a more positive person and now he's getting negative. I'm trying to express this to him and I hope it will make it through but if not then I can see an end. A fuck you, deal attitude is not a relationship attitude. Which is what she has...
What bugged me the most is I felt like she saw my knitting as a waste... Which is just me taking it that way. I know this. Instead of wow that looks great, i don't have the patience for that. Its I can't do that. Takes too long and i don't wear stuff like that.
We did have some very nice times and she did say she liked a scarf i made his uncle last year.....and she spun me some very nice yarn for Kathy and some roving i brought up. I tried spinning, no thanks...
I also got goodies from the yarn store at 40% off...
The weather was awesome and I read a ton. I spent some good times with his uncle weeding and shooting guns. Oh yeah, i shot a gun...I stayed away from the farm because I am just in the way and my help is unsatisfactory. I did water the cows though and hung out with them.... So many flies.
Oh and i got my computer skillz on and hooked boo up with a better Internet connection. Once he burns off some projects from his past school days and add the ram we bought he should be golden. His computer did have problems connecting and was slow but mine was normal.

I may die

Want to here how my trip is so far. Well Ive been sick the whole time. Might be allergies but its not like any allergy I've had before. The boy's job has required him to work twice as much as he was suposed to so when he gets home hes just a lump of crap. We had a great Tuesday exploring vermont and yesterday we did Boston which was high stress with the other gals we were with...Dunno....in ways this could have been a shorter trip. When i visit here I don't feel like i get "real" time together. We may be sitting on the same couch but our minds are totally in different places. With him living here he doesn't ask me to explore and such so i do it on my own... I've knit some but seem to have gone slow in it. Monkey sock number one is ready for kitchnering and sock for Boo has been restarted like 3 times.. Im off to get coffee, blow snot and read....
